The entire world recognizes wedding rings as a symbol of commitment among a couple. Although various cultures have different traditions and norms, the most common aspect is exchanging rings at weddings. Traditionally in most countries worldwide: the USA, Britain, New Zealand, and Australia, men wear their wedding rings on the left hand.  Some people try and explain the concept by claiming that the wedding ring is worn on the left hand’s fourth finger because a vein runs from the finger to the heart. Nevertheless, this has never been confirmed to be true.

Why Do Some Men Wear Their Wedding Rings on the Right Hand?

Some men defy the norm and wear their wedding ring on the right hand instead. The following are some of the reasons why some men prefer to wear their wedding ring on the right hand.

Cultural Differences

The culture of wearing rings on the left hand is mostly seen in western countries. On the flip side, some eastern cultures prefer having the ring on the right hand. In this case, there is no right culture. The most important thing is the symbolism of the ring.

When the Ring Is a Family Jewel

In most cases, those people with family rings prefer to wear them on the right hand. In that case, they can get married and wear their wedding ring on the left hand. Eventually, enjoying possessing the two rings.

Same-sex Couples

Numerous same-sex couples prefer to wear their wedding ring in the right hand to signify monogamy in their community.

Left-handed People

Some men prefer to wear their wedding ring on the left hand because their right hand is dominant. In this case, the idea is to lower the chances of damaging the ring by wearing it on the hand that they do not use frequently.  Moreover, others feel comfortable when wearing a ring on the less dominant hand.
